                             JULY 2010 MIDWEST BALLROOM RADIO SCHEDULE


JULY 3 New Releases- On the first Saturday of each month, we select the
best new recordings by local jazz artists, vocalists and big bands to play on the show. Our program receives many new CD's each week. We will play two hours of these great new tunes. Many of these performers appear at local jazz clubs in the area. Several new performers will be featured this month. We especially look for new versions of tunes from "The Great American Songbook."

 JULY 10 Big Band Medleys-Two hours of songs played in medley form perfect for dancing or for listening. Many of the selections will be performed by local orchestras. This show is perfect for dancing or for listening.

JULY 17. Famous Pairs Show. This is one of our regular programs that features first a well-known tune, performed by a national artist and then a new recording of the same song by a local group or singer. We will play several of these musical pairs during the program along with some other great dance music and easy listeninig favorites.

JULY 24 .Big Band Medleys II-A program of dance music played by local, national, and territory orchestras. Roll back the carpet and be prepared todance to two hours of great music.

 JULY 31 Summer Sock Hop. Great tunes from the 50's 60's and 70's

played and sung by local big bands and vocalists. Each show also includes the Big Band Bulletin Board which highlights area events.

  Midwest Ballroom is hosted by John Russell (Ghrist) and airs each Saturday from 5-7 p.m. on listener supported WDCB 90.9 FM, Public Radio from College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL. The station also streams its signal on the Internet at wdcb.org. It is Chicagoland's only local big band radio show. August 7 New Releases. On the first show of each month, Midwest Ballroom features selected CD recordings of new area jazz singers and orchestras. These performers
appear regularly at local establishments around the Chicagoland area.
 
 
August 14 Big Band Medleys I Two hours of dance music played by local, territory,
and national big bands. This music is perfect for dancing or for listening. Most programs also feature a musical "History Lesson," and "Garage Sale Record of the Week."
 
 
August 21 Famous Pairs-This is a regular monthly feature of the program which showcases a popular old song played by two different performers. Listeners will enjoy
 the hit version of a tune followed by another good version of the same song. About
six "famous pairs" will be played during the show along with some other great dance tunes.
 
 

August 28 Big Band Medleys II. Two more hours of great dance music played by local, territory, and national big bands and singers. Each program also includes the Big
Band Bulletin Board which highlights local orchestras and other good music events.

also include our regular features plus the weekly Big Band Bulletin
Board detailing where local talent is appearing in the area.
 
September 18 Hot Wax Weekend. Local big bands and singers cut
loose with new versions of 50's 60's and 70's tunes, performed
in easy listening and big band style.
